PhD; he mainly focused on the ecology of submerged plants, and his dissertation concerned with the ecology of the Stratiotes aloides. In 1988 he became head of the department, and a year later the mayor of Mikolajki. After this he returned to scientific work at the Institute of Ecology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he remained as assistant professor until 2001.;hunters, beekeepers, actively supporting the development of beekeeping in the Masuria.
