The Nencki Institute Research Station in Mikołajki and the Masurian Landscape Park cordialy invite you to the next edition of the SCIENCE FESTIVAL, which will take place on November 22nd, 2019 (Friday) at the Research Station of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Mikołajki (ul. Leśna 13) between 9 A.M. and 1 P.M. This year, together with biologists from the University of Warmia and Mazury and archaeologists from the University of Warsaw, we will prepare a lot of interesting classes on forest, polar, archeological and water topics. You will learn a lot of curiosities about the Piska Forest, white storks, Antarctic microbes, the North Pole and greenland whales, excavations and burials, and planctonic organisms of our lakes. Due to high interest and limited number of places, organized school groups please make a reservation by phone: 692 49-56-74 (Tomasz Janecki) or by e-mail: email@example.com. Each classes start at full hours: 9, 10, 11 and 12 and lasts about 50 minutes.
July-August 2019, PHOTO-EXHIBITION “ANTARCTICA”
Throughout the summer holiday (till the end of August) we cordially invite you to a photo exhibition entitled “ANTARCTIC NATURE AND “ARCTOWSKI” POLISH ANTARCTIC STATION” by Tomasz Janecki, member of many research expeditions to Antarctica and to the Arctic. Exhibition is open daily from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. in the building of the old, glazed Rotunda at the Nencki Institute Research Station in Mikołajki.

On holidays, the brain works sometimes more intensely than during the school year !!! If you want to find out more about what a great machine hides inside of our head, how it works, how it perceives the world around us and how it sometimes cheats – come to the Nencki Institute Research Station in Mikołajki for an educational event called BRAIN ON VACATION, which will take place on Friday July 26th, 2019. We invite children, teenagers and adults – we have prepared something interesting for everyone. The event is organized by PhD students and employees of the Nencki Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

On February 8, 2019 (Friday, 4:00 pm), we would like to invite you to a winter meeting with FASCINATING NEUROBIOLOGY. It sounds serious – but it will be very affordable and extremely interesting. It seems to us that the reality around us is consistent and logical, and we can rely in our senses on everyday life. However, our brain sometimes gives us surprises that are difficult to explain. You will learn how our senses perceive and process reality and what this implies for us. We will talk about illusions and the most common cognitive errors that lead astray our logic.
The lecturer will be RAFAŁ CZAJKOWSKI PhD – head of the Laboratory of Spatial Memory at the Nencki Institute, dealing with biological research of memorization mechanisms on a daily basis.
